Vincent Loques was the sexton at Nice’s Notre Dame church whose throat was allegedly slit by 21-year-old Tunisian migrant Brahim Aoussaoui armed with a knife in Nice, Paris on Thursday morning.

The devoted security guard was killed moments later along with a 60-year-old woman, who was beheaded and 44-year-old Simone Barreto Silva who was stabbed several times, according to prosecutors.

Loques was survived by two children. He was identified as a father and beloved caretaker of the church.

He opened the doors of the church at around 8:30 am on Thursday morning for setting up the church for the upcoming All Saints Day, reports said.

Mr. Vincent Loque had set up the Notre Dame church moments before the incident took place.

Brahim Aoussaoui, a 21-year-old Tunisian, arrived in Nice at around 6.30 am via the railway station, where he quickly changed his outfit, France’s chief anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard said.

CCTV showed him arriving in the church at 8.30 am and staying there for nearly half an hour. He hacked 54-year-old sacristan Loques to death as he prepared for the first Mass of the day.

Meanwhile, 44-year-old Brazilian born victim Simone Barreto Silva was stabbed several times but managed to flee to a bar across the street, where she died.

The third victim, described by French authorities as an elderly woman, was butchered near the church’s holy water in a beheading attempt.

Investigation Reports So Far

The suspect shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ (‘God is greatest’ in Arabic) as he slaughtered the three Christians worshipping ahead of the Catholic holy day of All Saints Day on Sunday.

He was reportedly shot 14 times by armed police during the attack. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

According to information from the Italian Red Cross, Brahim Aoussaoui had arrived in Europe via the Italian island of Lampedusa on September 20 and arrived in Paris on October 9.
