Steven DeWayne Haizlip brought two handguns to the building and reportedly shot Terry Lee Cobb Jr., who was 48 years old, a city employee of 20 years, police chief Catrina Thompson said in an afternoon press conference.
Steven Dewayne Haizlip has shot one and injured two before being shot dead by police in a shooting at a government facility in North Carolina, according to city officials, who said they had stabilized the situation.

Police received a call of shots fired around 6:40 a.m. and responded within four minutes, Thompson cleared. Officers arriving on the scene heard shots still being fired and engaged the gunman in a shootout outside the building. Multiple rounds were fired, killing the gunman and injuring one officer, Sergeant Cameron Stewart Sloan.
The killed victim, who was a senior equipment operator with the sanitation department, was identified as the 48-year-old Terry Lee Cobb.

Mr. Cobb was Mr. Haizlip’s specific target, ”police chief Catrina Thompson confirmed at a press conference. The gunman had targeted his co-worker in what was being categorized as “workplace violence”.
According to Captain Steven Tollie of the Winston-Salem Police Department, These two gentlemen had a longstanding dislike for each other”.
According to police, several emergency calls were received at 6.37 a.m., in which shots were reported in the break room of the Joycelyn V. Johnson Municipal Services Center.
According to Captain Thompson, the first officer arrived at the scene at 6.41 a.m. The shooter shot the police and hit Sergeant Sloan twice. The cops opened fire and shot Haizlip.

Police officers found another wounded sanitary worker on site. He was seriously injured but is expected to recover.
