Selena Shelley Faye Biography – Wiki

Selena Shelley Faye, also known as Not Afraid, was identified as the Native American teenager from Montana, who had been missing since vanishing from a highway rest stop on New Year’s Day,  and was found dead Monday, ending a search that spanned across three states and involved the FBI.

She was 16 years old.

The 16-year-old lived with her mother on the Crow reservation near Billings, when she was last seen and heard on New Year’s Day at the eastbound Interstate 90 rest area between Billings and Hardin, Montana.

According to family members, she was meeting another friend from the reservation when they last heard her voice.

Selena Shelley Faye Found Dead After Vanishing on New Year’s Eve

Selena Shelley Faye was found dead at about 10:30 a.m. less than a mile southwest of the rest stop on Interstate 90 between Billings and Hardin during a “systematic grid search” of the area, Big Horn County Sheriff Lawrence C. Big Hair told USA Today in a statement.

“We brought our baby girl home. Now she can Rest In Peace. Jackie and I want to thank everyone for helping us bring our girl home”, Cheryl Horn, Selena’s aunt, wrote in a Facebook post.

An investigation will be launched to figure out the cause of her death. Authorities do not expect foul play.

Investigation Reports

According to Big Horn County Sheriff’s officials, Selena was one of 6 people driving from Billings to Hardin whose car broke down and restarted. 4 people left the rest stop in the vehicle and the driver called a relative to pick up Not Afraid and another girl left behind.

Only one girl was at the rest stop when the relative arrived. She told police Not Afraid was last seen walking off into a nearby field with insufficient dressing for temperatures around freezing, The Associated Press reported.
