Rachel Freeman is identified as an Oklahoma student-athlete who was killed Monday afternoon after she and her other five fellows were hit by a truck while running for cross-country practice, according to officials.

She was a senior at Moore High School. She was recently identified by school officials after being announced dead.
Rachel Freeman Killed When Driver Strikes 6 Cross-Country Runners During Practice
Officers and the Moore Police Department were informed at 3:30 p.m. over the death of a pedestrian who had been hit by a red pickup truck which was believed to have fled away after the accident, according to Moore Police Sergeant Jeremy Lewis statements at a press conference.
Freeman was later identified by the school where he studied.
“It is with great sadness and heavy heart that I share with you, there was a tragic accident this afternoon at Moore High School. Six of our cross-country students were running on the sidewalk and were struck by a vehicle”, Principle Mike Coyle said in an email, obtained by KFOR.
Beside Freeman’s death, other five students were also wounded and later hospitalized.

After the arrival, police also found a dead female student and five other injured students, three of whom were in serious condition.
Rachel Freeman Suspect Killer
The suspected truck driver is identified as 57-year-old Max Leroy Townsend who was arrested and charged on one count of first-degree manslaughter and 6 counts of leaving the scene of an injury accident, KOCO reported.

Townsend revealed that he also struck other vehicles on the way after reportedly striking the students.
Townsend’s 28-year-old son was also killed in a car accident on Sunday, police told KFOR.
