Patrick Key was a beloved elementary school art teacher who reportedly died on Christmas Day after battling COVID-19, his wife Priscella Key confirmed. Key was a teacher at Hendricks Elementary School and has been infected since he was hospitalized on November 15, according to a GoFundMe page set up for his family.

Key was receiving a ventilator and life support at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

“Heaven has won the sweetest angel,” Priscella Key said in an email. “Dear Patrick, he lost his fight with COVID-19. He fought long and hard, but his body was too tired to continue.”

Patrick Key said he wanted people to know that deaths from COVID-19 are not just numbers. “I would love to let the world know that the number of people who died from COVID-19 is not just numbers, but real people whose families are heartbroken,” he said.

Patrick Key is survived by his wife Priscella Key, a primary school teacher at a different Cobb school. He was also infected with COVID-19 at the time. He is a 23-year senior member of the Cobb County school system. He was currently teaching painting at the Powder Springs school.

“The world has lost one of the kindest, kindest loving men. Our family has lost our world and my heart has been shattered,” said Priscella.
