A court heard how he told officers he was overcome with a ‘strong desire’ to kill the pensioner after previously plotting a killing spree. Christensen denied murder but was found guilty last month following a trial at Stafford Crown Court.
Today he was jailed for life to serve a minimum of 28 years as well as 28 months to run concurrently for possession of a knife.
Passing sentence, Mr. Justice Pepperall told Christensen he showed his victim ‘no mercy’ and called the attack ‘a brutal and entirely senseless killing of an innocent strange who had caused you no offense’.

The court heard Christensen became obsessed with playing violent video games like Grand Theft Auto and considered joining ISIS before carrying out the killing.
Jurors were also told how he had intended to go on a killing spree and had been plotting a massacre for several months. He bought two deadly blades on the internet and had previously used one to kill sheep to eat whilst living rough in the countryside.
But his worried parents contacted police when he began talking about his desire to kill and also take revenge on his old school teachers and their children.
Moses Christensen Murders
The court was told by the time officers found Christensen he had carried out the murder after scouring the area looking for people to kill. Christensen admitted: ‘I would like to point out first of all this murder wasn’t just an outburst of emotion. It wasn’t spontaneous, I had planned to kill people.’
‘The attack was and I quote ‘very savage and animalistic and very brutal’ at the end of the attack he stabbed him one last time to just make sure he was dead.’
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Bellamy, from West Mercia Police, said afterward: ‘I’m pleased that a significant sentence has been handed to Moses Christensen for the brutal murder of Richard Hall.
‘Christensen is a dangerous individual who will now serve a considerable sentence in prison where he cannot cause further harm to the wider public.
‘Richard Hall’s family have understandably been left shattered, Richard was simply taking a walk on Brown Clee Hill when he was tragically killed in a senseless attack, and my thoughts and condolences remain with them.’
The family of Mr. Hall, who lived in Perton, Staffs., previously released an emotional tribute to a ‘brilliant man as they branded his killer ‘pure evil’.
