Lipolelo Thabane is identified as the former wife of Prime Minister Thomas Thabane who was allegedly shot dead outside her home by her ex-husband’s current wife in the capital Maseru two days before his inauguration in 2017.

Lipolelo had been living away from her ex-husband since 2012.
Lipolelo Thabane Shot Dead
The 58-year-old was murdered just two days before Mr Thabane was elected as Prime Minister in June 2017.
One evening while returning back home, she was shot multiple times at close range and found dead on the side of a road.
The shocking death was initially described it as a “senseless killing”, and that unknown armed men were responsible for her death.
However, according to the new evidence filed in court papers in early January seen by AFP news agency, a copy of a letter was found which the police chief wrote to Mr Thabane.
The 23-December-2019 dated letter wrote: “The investigations reveal that there was a telephonic communication at the scene of the crime in question… with another cell phone. The cell phone number belongs to you”.

An arrest warrant was set for the 42-year-old on 10 January after she went missing.
According to AFP news agency, she was “picked from the border” with South Africa on Tuesday.
She washeld into custody and would be immediately charged in court on Wednesday, according to the reports BBC received by police.
It is still unknown if Maesaiah Thabane will apply for bail at the court appearance.
The governing party and the opposition have accused the Mr Thabane of blocking the investigation regarding his previous wife’s murder.
