Laura Elena Villa is best known as the fourth wife of Mexican musical icon Armando Manzanero has died at 85 on December 28th, 2020 at a Mexico City hospital early Monday after a weeks-long battle with coronavirus. The Mexican outlet El Universal said that the legendary music-maker had been intubated five days after he was checked into a hospital on December 17, and had been in stable condition prior to Sunday.
According to the outlet, Manzanero is set to be cremated in Mexico City, with his remains headed to Merida, his hometown.

Laura Elena Villa spoke privately for the show program “Ventaneando” about the current state of the Mexican singer-songwriter who was hospitalized and intubated for suffering from coronavirus on December 24.
Villa said that the family was very grateful for the affection of the Mexican people who made her husband feel the audience’s love.
Therefore, she decided to meet with the commentators of Televisión Azteca to explain the teacher’s current situation. “The doctors informed us that Armando’s lungs were working very well, all the medical problems they experienced were overcome,” he said.
Villa also explained that one of the possible reasons for the teacher’s low oxygenation is that he uses cell phones that he calls his wife every hour, takes off the mask and shakes it to speak. “Unfortunately for us, because he had a phone in his hand, but that took off his mask, it made him somehow emotional. In fact, who knows that he doesn’t like being hospitalized or going out to buy medicine at the pharmacy? Villa explained.

Mexico’s Society of Authors and Composers called Manzanero ‘one of the greatest artists of our time’ and the ‘romantic soul of Mexico.’ Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said in a statement, ‘Armando Manzanero was a sensitive man, a man of the people.’
