Lisa Banes Wife
Lisa Banes is in critical condition after she was struck in a hit-and-run on Friday in New York City, her wife Kathryn said Saturday.
She was on her way to meet her wife Kathryn. Banes had the right of way when she was run over in a crosswalk at West 64th and Amsterdam Ave. as the driver ran a red light and continued northbound. “There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing,” the NYPD DCPI tells PEOPLE.
Banes was crossing Amsterdam Ave. near Lincoln Center when she was mowed down about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, police said.
“We have several days ahead of us to pray for Lisa,” her wife, Kathryn Kranhold, said.
“If anyone has any information about the scooter driver, we ask them to please call the police.”

As of Saturday, Banes is still in critical condition with a traumatic brain injury after being admitted at Mount Sinai Morningside hospital.
“Lisa is in critical condition and we’ll know more in the next few days,” Kranhold told The Post.
When Banes was late meeting her, Kranhold began to frantically call her wife, to no answer.
Someone finally answered the call at the hospital, filling her in on the accident. Banes was in town to perform in a virtual adaptation of Eleanor Burgess’ The Niceties, presented by Manhattan Theatre Club, where she was part of the play’s traditionally staged production from 2018 to 2019.
The person driving the scooter blew a red light and slammed into Banes, authorities said.
The force of the crash sent her flying out of the crosswalk, witnesses said.
