Joshua Rogers alleged of helping Patric Ferguson

According to reports by police, Patric Ferguson is facing a slew of charges after police say he allegedly kidnapped and killed a man while on duty. Ferguson, who was on duty at the time and knew Howard, is accusing of bundling Howard into the back of his patrol car before shooting him dead.

Police say Ferguson drove the victim to a separate location where he allegedly shot and killed him. The alleged murder, last week, was captured on tape by a nearby surveillance camera and Ferguson is said to have admitted to the crime, reports WMC 5.

Howard had been reported missing around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, nearly 24 hours after he allegedly was forced into Ferguson’s squad car. He was last seen on Mark Twain Street around 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 5, according to police.

Officers attempted to use an app to track the victim’s cell phone, which was found near Lamar Avenue and Shelby Drive. However, Howard was not in the area.

What we know so far about Joshua Rogers

Investigators say, Ferguson, acting on his own accord, armed himself with his personal handgun, forced the victim into the back of a police car and drove to a third of a mile to a different location, where he shot and killed him.

Police added that Ferguson’s cell phone search history revealed multiple incriminating internet searches related to cleaning up crime scenes and how to destroy DNA evidence. Ferguson, who had been with MPD since 2018, shot Howard while his victim was in the back of his police car, according to the force.

They also said that Ferguson admitted to enlisting the help of another man, Joshua Rogers, a friend of his, to move the body to another location.

Officers also charged a second man, 28-year-old Joshua Rogers, for allegedly helping Ferguson move Howard’s body after he was killed.

Patric Ferguson is expected to make his first court appearance today, according to the Shelby County Jail.
