Gizelle Solorio was identified as a police officer from the Houston Police department who died in a head-on car crash on Interstate 10 near Sealy on Thursday morning. A friend of Solorio’s who did not want to be identified said she had a dry and witty sense of humor, and she was an avid “Star Wars” fan and a dog enthusiast.

She was 32 years old.
Gizelle Solorio Career
Solorio had been with the department just two years and seven months, but her fellow officers in the Northeast Division said she made an outsized mark during her short tenure.
According to Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, Solorio was elected president of her academy class, Class 230.
“We tell officers a smile is a sign of strength. It’s welcoming”, he claimed. “She understood that. She had a beautiful smile and energy. Everyone who knew her will miss her dearly”.
“Despite having two and half years of experience, she performed and functioned like a veteran officer,” Hatcher said. “She went above and beyond the call of duty to help individual citizens”. Solorio was known to have an eye for children at the scenes she worked, according to her co-workers. She always made sure they got special attention and had a positive interaction with police.
She recently returned to full duty after knee surgery.

The preliminary information indicates at approximately 6:25 a.m., a 2018 Kenworth Truck Tractor towing a trailer was was driving east in a westbound traffic lane when she hit a Kenworth truck tractor around 6:25 a.m. east of Micak Road, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. She died upon impact, according to Houston police.

After the accident, the dead women was identified as Gizelle Solorio, police officer who is off duty. According to the Texas Department of Public Security, he drove a Toyota Tacoma west in the lane down the wrong road in 2013 when he hit the front of an 18-wheel vehicle. Solorio was declared dead at the scene of the accident by Judge Bernice Burger from the 4th district of the Peace Judge.
The driver of the tractor, 65-year-old Guy Pearson of La Feria, was not injured.
“This is a tremendous loss for our department”, Hatcher claimed.
Who was Tractor-Trailer Driver?
Guy Pearson is identified as the opposite driver who was driving the 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer when he was hit head-on by Solorio, according to the Texas DPS.
KPRC 2 Investigates has confirmed that Houston Police Department Chief Art Acevedo notified officers of the death of Solorio. Solorio’s death adds another name to the list of first responders in Houston who have died in recent weeks.
It’s not yet clear what caused Solorio, of Katy, to be driving in the opposite direction. State trooper Sergeant Stephen Woodard said that was still under investigation.
