An active search for two members of the Kennedy family has been launched. Gideon and his mom, Maeve, were reported missing on Thursday during a boating trip on Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
According to a statement, Kathleen Kennedy says the search for her 40-year-old daughter and 8-year-old grandson “has turned from rescue to recovery”.
Both the mom and son were seen struggling to return to shore during a canoe trip near Herring Bay, Washington, D.C.’s FOX 5 reported.
They had gotten into the canoe to chase a ball that had gone into the water during a family gathering, David McKean told The Washington Post.
“They just got farther out than they could handle and couldn’t get back in”, he told the newspaper.
