Daniel Tucker Chamblin is a Florida man who has reportedly been charged in a traffic crash that killed a longtime police captain who was the father of New England Patriots running back James White.

According to investigators, Daniel Tucker Chamblin was driving 95 mph when his car slammed into a vehicle driven by Lisa White, mother of the Patriots player. In the passenger seat was Tyrone White, the 59-year-old father of James White and a captain with the Miami-Dade County Police Department.

Chamblin was driving at over 50 mph over the speed limit, which is 45 mph at Griffin Road. The incident took place at the intersection of Griffin and Southwest 118th Avenue in Cooper City.
The collision caused the Passat to strike a curb and then flip, trapping the Whites inside. Chamblin’s vehicle caught fire at the scene. Lisa White was seriously injured but is recovering at home.
However, Her husband, Miami-Dade Police Captain Tyrone White, was killed in the crash.
The couple’s son James White played high school football at national power St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, starred at Wisconsin and been part of two Patriot Super Bowl-winning teams.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said Chamblin, who has a history of speeding, slammed his 2018 Subaru into a Volkswagen Passat driven by Lisa White, the football player’s mother.
Chamblin surrendered Thursday and made his first court appearance Friday morning. He was ordered held at the main jail in downtown Fort Lauderdale on bonds totaling $235,000.
