‘Mock The Week’ star Phil Jerrod passed away at his home in his wife Beck Jerrod’s arms Saturday, September 4.

The comedian was battling with a rare form of cancer, reports say.

Phil Jerrod’s agency Off The Kerb informed that the comedian died after being diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. “It is with deep sadness we have to announce the death of Phil Jerrod. Phil peacefully passed away at home after a battle with cancer, with his devoted wife Beck by his side, ” a statement read.

“Phil was a dear friend to us, an incredibly kind and talented man, who was taken far too soon.

“He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, ” the statement further added.

Who is Beck Jerrod?

Beck Jerrod is widely known as the wife of comedian Phil Jerrod who was married to her for over 13 years. His agency Off The Kerb confirmed that JPhil died on Saturday, September 4, after being diagnosed with sarcoma.

Beck had been fundraising for Cancer Research UK since August when she participated in the Shine Night Walk in Brighton. It is not immediately clear if the couple had any children.

The sad update revealed that the comedian passed away with his wife at his side – while fans, colleagues and followers have taken to social media in the wake of the news of his death to pay tribute.

A statement issued by Off The Kerb on Monday, September 6, 2021, reads:

“It is with deep sadness we have to announce the death of Phil Jerrod.

“Phil peacefully passed away at home after a battle with cancer, with his devoted wife Beck by his side.”

Fellow comic, Angela Barnes tweeted: “All my thoughts are with Beck, your beloved wife.

It is still unclear if the couple went on to have children together.

Friends and colleagues from the comedy world paid their condolences to Jerrod. Nish Kumar tweeted,

“This is awful news. A great comic and a lovely man.” Channel 4 star Romesh Ranganathan said, “Phil Jerrod was one of my very best friends and I loved him dearly. He was a brilliant comic, but more importantly one of the kindest and loveliest men you could ever meet. You would always feel better for having spent time with him.

Angela Barnes wrote, “On Saturday we had to say goodbye to one of my best friends, the incomparable Phil Jerrod. One of the most loving, funniest and most creative people I’ve known. All my thoughts are with Beck”.

Lloyd Griffith tweeted, “Such awful news. Not only was Phil really bloody funny, but he was the nicest man you’d ever bump into. Thoughts and prayers with Beck. Cancer can f*** off.”

Apart from performing stand-up on stage, Phil Jerrod wrote for ‘The Now Show’, ‘The News Quiz’, and ‘Mock The Week’. He was awarded Best Debut Act at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2015.

The comedian had three critically acclaimed solo shows in his name at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

He is famously known for his podcast ‘Crash Bang Wallop’.
