CCTV Footage: What happened to Amar Kettule?

CCTV footage obtained by The Daily Telegraph showed Amar Kettule, wearing a white Adidas shirt and gold chains, arriving home with his partner just hours before his death at 7.30 pm.  At 8.40 pm the couple was seen emerging from the apartment.

After returning six hours later, Kettule was gunned down in a nearby alleyway.

Kettule’s family and friends gathered on Monday for a candlelight vigil in the alleyway where he was killed. He was remembered by locals as a friendly person, despite working as a standover man who reportedly extorted money and was high up in the True Kings street gang.

NSW Police are probing whether a feud between gang DLASTHR and the True Kings could have led to his death.

Update: What we know so far about Amar Kettule

Kettule’s death is eerily similar to his brother Dylann’s, who was gunned down in a suspected drive-by shooting outside his girlfriend’s unit block in January 2014. His death is thought to be linked to a feud with DLASTHR.

Kettule has links to the Nomads bikie gang and memorably had to be restrained by police in the aftermath of his brother’s death when he demanded to see Dylann’s body.

Fairfield City PAC Commander Glen Fitzgerald said police were investigating whether Sunday morning’s killing was linked to gang wars in the area.

‘We believe the attack to be targeted. He is well-known to police – however, this is a violent attack on a suburban street and is unacceptable behavior,’ he said.

Kettule was born in Iraq in 1986 before migrating to New Zealand with his family when he was eight. He moved to Sydney as a teenager and eventually became involved with the True Kings street gang. Kettule spent time in prison for commercial drug supply and break and enter offenses.
