Aaron Torgalski is named as the Buffalo police officer who was seen in a viral video with mate Robert McCabe shoving 75-year-old Martin Gugino to ground in front of City Hall during Thursday protests against police brutality after the death of George Floyd. Thousands call for them to be fired from police department but they pleaded not guilty to assault after they were caught on camera.

According to WBFO, Torgalski was one of 19 new recruits sworn into police academy training in August 2014.

According to the Buffalo News, Mr Gugino was pushed to ground in front front of City Hall Thursday by Torgalski and McCabe, who pleaded not guilty to assault.
Byron Brown, the mayor of Buffalo, called upon the 75-year-old to be an “agitator” who had been asked to leave the area “multiple” times.
“There was blood dripping out of (Gugino’s) ear”, said Jamie Quinn, 17, of Buffalo, who was there taking photos just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

A viral video, which has been viewed more than 39m times on Twitter, shows Torgalski and McCabe shoving Gugino in front of City Hall, Thursday.
The protester fell to the pavement, hitting his head; a painful crack is heard as blood starts leaking from his ear and they continue walking.
The footage also shows Gugino approaching a line of police, and then Torgalski pushing him backward.
He stumbled then fell to the ground, his head hitting the sidewalk, causing blood around the back of his head.
Witnesses claim that police at the moment called for medical help within minutes.

Martin Gugino Rushed To The Erie County Medical Center
Mr Gugino was rushed to the Erie County Medical Center with head injuries, afternoon Friday.
According to Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, Gugino was listed in serious but stable condition and is “alert and oriented”.

Officers Torgalski and McCabe were both charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony.
They were both released without bail after the hearing and will return to court July 20
According to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, the two involved cops have been suspended without pay on Thursday.
