Sydney Sutherland is a missing Arkansas woman who is a registered nurse at a medical center in Newport. Sutherland went missing after heading out on an afternoon jog on Highway 18 around Grubbs where she lived.
Sutherland was last seen wearing a white tank top and black athletic shorts. She is described to be a 25-year-old woman with about 5-foot-3 height. Jackson County officials are asking if anyone who traveled on Highway 67 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday to call them at 870-523-5842.
A woman by the name of Sophia Jackson Newberry claims Sutherland is her brother’s girlfriend. The sheriff says Sutherland lives with her boyfriend and there is no indication of any issues.
Sydney Sutherland Missing News
Sutherland went missing on August 19 and has not been seen since that afternoon. She was last seen jogging off Highway 18 between Newport and Grubbs around 3 pm, going west.
Her car and personal items were still at her home.
In addition to volunteers, search dogs with the Arkansas Department of Corrections and a helicopter from the Arkansas State Police have been issued to the area to search for Sutherland.
According to Sheriff Lucas, teams searched until 2 a.m. Thursday, then resumed the search around 7:30 a.m.
Sydney Sutherland’s Disappearance Under Investigation
Authorities with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department say they have found Sydney Sutherland cell phone. They say the cell phone was about a quarter-mile from her home and Highway 67.
Another woman named Summer Sutherland shared a security camera image of Sutherland in her car.
According to officials, Sutherland went to a gym in Jonesboro on Wednesday and investigators are looking at surveillance footage there. Sheriff Lucas also warned there was some information put on social media about a truck out of Texas and two men who might have been involved. The sheriff says this information did not come from law enforcement.
Authorities are concerned for her safety due to the weather conditions at the time she went missing.
